Imed Alibi’s sounds are ambitious and courageous.
Mixing techniques, cultures and openness to create a world of rhythms, beats, melodies, ideas, transformation, technology and passion far from typical entertainment.
After SAFAR produced by Justin Adams in 2014 and SALHI in 2018, FRIGYA is a new rich mix built on Alibi’s percussive foundations, Berber and Arabic rhythms, along with Khalil Hentati’s distorted digital beats and Michel Marre’s tender trompette tunes.
Frigya, which means Africa in Tunisian dialect, is a culmination of several years of research and creation – it is a comeback to Tunisian rhythms ingrained from this land, a connection between the Arabic and African world through percussion and voice.
Frigya one of Alibi’s globe trotting collaborations, is a tempting proposition to travel into the true folk music, a search into roots and a call to connect to progressive contemporary electronic beats, crossing all potential borders.
Frigya’s album release is planned for Autumn 2019.
