The group ENERBIA explores the connection between traditional, ancient and contemporary music in the extraordinary soundscape of the Quattro Province, the mountain border between Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Lombardy and Piedmont, a land of original instruments such as the piva, the Apennine bagpipe and the magical traditional oboe called piffero.
Enerbia’s musical journey begins in the rural courtyards of the plains along the Po River and then ascends the Apennine valleys along historical routes such as the Vie del Sale (Salt Roads) and finally reaches the Mediterranean Sea. The concert will revive the atmosphere of the dance party with the performance of the repertoire of original dances from the Four Provinces together with moving songs of love and travel. Wonderful popular waltzes will alternate with ancient group dances in a circle, such as jigs, alessandrine and monferrine, still today a symbol of this territory.
The group was portrayed by the writer Paolo Rumiz in his famous travel books, but also provided the music for the scenes along the river Po in Ermanno Olmi’s film ‘I cento chiodi’ . ENERBIA has also collaborated with other directors including Marco Bellocchio, Gianfranco Pannone, Giuseppe Bertolucci, Alessandro Scillitani , Francesco Paladino and with writers such as Michele Serra and Luca Scarlini.
