Meglio ‘na tammurriata ca ‘na guerra
(A tammurriata it’s better than a war)
“Meglio ‘na tammurriata ca ‘na guerra” is a special project conceived and realized by Enzo Avitabile, for the opening night of the second edition of the Napoli World. This unprecedented concert is a journey through the history of the tammurriata, ranging from the backyard to the factories to our times. An original show that pays tribute to Marcello Colasurdo, a great singer and interpreter of the folk tradition who passed away last July.
On stage, Enzo Avitabile (voice, pentarpa and saxello) is accompanied by Emidio Ausiello on frame drums and Gianluigi Di Fenza on acoustic guitar. The tried-and-true trio is joined by a number of valued guests such as singer Biagino De Prisco and two dancers and singers from San Marzano sul Sarno aged 89 and 80: Lucia Molisse and Anna Foggia. Together they will give life to an unpredictable acoustic concert, inspired by peasant folk music and dance related to Campania’s popular cults and embellished with various surprises.
From roots to concrete, passing through what Avitabile now calls his “experimental tradition”: word, sound, gesture and dance coexist in this new project with his lived experiences, made up of encounters with great international musicians and the different musics of the world.
