“A Psychedelic Rock Experiment From Taiwan”

Outlet Drift is an experimental band from Taitung, Taiwan, known for taking listeners on an intense, meditative, and spiritual journey. The trio—Wushang Pihay (guitar/vocals), Putad Pihay (bass/vocals), and Lin ken (percussion/vocals)—crafts music that blends catchy melodies with free improvisation, moving seamlessly from intense climaxes to soft ebbs and flows. Their sound is shaped by a counterpoint of high and low tones, creating a deep sense of understanding and narrative within each song.

Drawing inspiration from traditional indigenous songs, harvest festival dances, and Amis art and rituals, the band reflects their unique heritage. Each member of Outlet Drift brings their own style and identity to the music, yet they unite to form a cohesive whole. Their music captures the essence of the Amis (Pangcah) people, offering a powerful fusion of tradition and innovation.

Spain’s major music festival Primavera Sound and toured Europe. In 2024, they embarked on an international tour, starting with performances at Korea’s Seoul Music Week, the Nonsan World Music Festival, Singapore’s Baybeats Music Festival, and concluding with SXSW Sydney in October, receiving high praise from local media, audiences, and festival organizers alike
