ALESSANDRO D’ALESSANDRO
Accordion player (italian organetto), producer, composer
Always interested in the most varied musical forms, Alessandro D’Alessandro is considered “one of the most talented e creative Italian and European accordion players”.
Alessandro D’Alessandro is considered one of the most talented and innovative European accordionists ofrecent years.
Great explorer and experimenter of sounds, he is considered a pioneer in the use of electronics applied to the
accordion. He began to study accordion at the age of 9 in Coreno Ausonio, a small city between Rome and Naples, with great tradition of accordion (Italian diatonic accordion). Always interested in the most varied musical forms, “he is unanimously considered one of the most talented Italian and European accordion players” (cit.), particularly appreciated for his technique, for his versatility and for his sound’s research. He created an original accordion’s percussion system, which, combined with the continuous modulation of sounds, through the use of effects,
loops and various objects ‘applied’ directly to the instrument, he called ‘prepared accordion’, a term generally used in contemporary music.
In 2021 his solo album ‘Canzoni – for prepared accordion & electronics’ released by important Italian label Squilibri Editore, was elected best world music album in Italy and led him to carry out important tours in Italy and Europe. It is a project of exploration of the author’s song, with the transposition of some classics into the language of a “prepared” accordion which, in his hands, seems to take on “the breath of an orchestra”.
He immediately began a concert career in multiple artistic projects, significantly broadening his artistic vision well beyond traditional music.
Alongside his concert career, he is a producer and composer, collaborating with many important artists in the fields of world music, jazz, pop, songwriting and cinema and theatre.
He is the soloist and artistic director of Orchestra Bottoni, a particular big band made up mostly of accordions, combined with the rhythm and tipycal italian voice of Antonella Costanzo, with which has released several records including ‘Orchestra Bottoni Live’, much appreciated by specialized critics in Italy.
In 2017 he won the Targa Tenco for the best album in dialect with “Songs, ballads and hypochondria of ammore” made together with songwriter Canio Loguercio. Premio Tenco is the most important prize in Italy for a songwriter music.
